We have been honored to have been selected as the Director of Sports Sensory Performance for HitStreak.  They are the premier baseball and softball training facility in the state.  In November of 2009 we opened a new satellite chiropractic performance office opening in their Centennial location off of Easter and Arapahoe.  The new location will allow us to further advance our care of the elite athlete.  We will measure and improve all the athletic performance indicators such as: pulmonary function, anxiety, hand-eye reaction time, power, strength, balance, arm speed & coordination along with the other health indicators like posture, range of motion, resiliency to injury etc.

This partnership will allow us to educate and empower a major group of youth, college and professional athletes.  Our Highands Ranch Chiropractic office will continue to provide state of the art care for athletic performance in addition to degeneration, posture, headaches, pinched nerves, sciatica, lower back pain, sports  injuries, childrens wellness and life longevity.

Vitality Performance Zone

 Sports Performance Training

In order to succeed at the sport of baseball, players must possess a combination of many attributes.  Some of the most important are: Speed, Strength, Core Stamina, Hand-Eye Coordination, Neuromuscular Optimization, Dynamic Vision, Excellent Movement (Kinesis), Strong Physiology and Coordination.  Players must also keep their body injury free and possess excellent shoulder stability.

The Vi.P. ZONE program has been specifically designed with the help of the world’s leading sports ophthalmologists, physicians, kinesiologists and athletes.  Our Elite program will enable committed baseball players to see an increase in vertical jump, sprinting speed, injury recovery time, ability to “see” the ball, fielding percentage, power, breathing capacity and response to stress among many other things.

IMG_0788_1.jpgObjectives:

  • Enhance body kinesiology to optimize function and reduce injuries
  • Maximize speed and agility Improve biomechanics of running, throwing, fielding and hitting Develop greater explosive power
  • Develop stronger more focused “In The Zone” vision

  • Develop greater endurance Improve body positioning, posture and coordination Maximize eye-hand coordination Decrease pulse rate, blood pressure, response to stress Increase pulmonary function, pulse oxymetry and VO2 Max

 Elite All-Star Membership

  • Dynamic Warm Up NeuroMuscular Reeducation

Each training session begins with activities to increase blood flow, muscle temperature, heart and breathing rate. This warm up will enable the athlete to maximize their session. This will be accomplished in a variety of ways including all muscles and joints of the body. Power-Up: Spine & Extremity Optimization

  • The brain and spinal cord control all functions and muscles of the body by sending neurological information through the spinal bones.  If the spinal bones are not in proper alignment, those messages are disrupted leading to faulty athletic function.

  • Numerous medical studies have confirmed that this step benefits athletic strength, breathing function, speed, blood pressure, anxiety, heart rate, coordination, visual acuity and shoulder health.  Using our techniques we are able to detect deficiencies in the neurological system and all extremities prior to training.  Following a thorough diagnostic we are then able to ‘Power-Up’ the athlete with specific spinal and extremity adjustments. With an elite All-Star Membership all athletes have the option of also being checked and ‘Powered-Up’ just like Olympic and professional athletes following their training.  This dramatically increases healing rate and performance levels.
  • In addition to the Power-Up Adjustments, much of our Power-Up training in the All-Star Membership will involve lengthening and creating flexibility of the shoulder, hips, back and neck.  This will be done by using decompression of the spine and very advanced protocols of Active Release and Elite Muscle Activation Technique which Dr. Rob has used on various great athletes at the Nike World Campus in Oregon and the Pac 10 Track Championships.

    Balance & Coordination
  •  Having body control and a sound center of gravity is essential to success on the baseball diamond. Better muscle synergy and control of joints is achieved through balance specific exercises that strengthen stabilizing muscles. Maximizing core stabilization will produce greater posture and balance. The ability to read and react is imperative to success and this component of the athletes training enables them to excel in this area. The core muscles are responsible for jumping, turning, lateral movement and twisting. We have researched a variety of techniques used by the world’s best surfers, snowboarders, skateboarders, gymnasts and martial artists and created a program that will enhance the bat speed, hitting power, throwing velocity and precision and fielding percentage of even the best professional baseball players.

Sports Vision Sensory Training IMG_0939.jpg

  •  With the help of the world’s leading optometrists, Nike Sparq Sensory Training and the Air Force Academy we have developed a complete system for sports vision development and enhancement.  The Vi.P. Zone’s Sports Vision Sensory Training© (Vi.P. ZONE SVST) is designed to evaluate and train the visual skills that are a critical performance factor in just about every sport.
  • One main difference in the way an athlete trains yesterday compared to one training today is the introduction of vision training and how the individual obtains and processes visual information. This difference, in turn, directly affects the quality of the athlete’s response.
  • To be successful on the baseball diamond quickness and the ability to read and react are imperative. When fielding, it can increase the ground a player can cover at their position and offensively can dramatically enhance the ability to run the bases and maximize the ability to get the extra base that someone else couldn’t.  When hitting, it can radically increase the ability of pitch recognition, ball tracking, depth perception and alignment.
  • What sets the Vi.P. ZONE apart from other national vision programs is the addition of the sensory component.  To make up the Vi.P. ZONE SVST we have added the major component of balance, coordination and body awareness to the program.  This will enable the eyes to be able to function at their peak while being challenged by altered dynamic body postures that are a constant in baseball.

Hand-Eye Reaction

  •  The ability to make a difficult play look easy in baseball has much to do with hand-eye reaction efficiency.  This also comes into play during the entire hitting cycle especially if the pitcher is throwing gas and has a heavy hook.  With all the previous drills the athlete has set all the building blocks into place to be able to excel in all facets of baseball, hitting, fielding and throwing.  Now what is required is the ability to take in a series of simple visual targets, process them and make the correct motor responses. This involves rapid hand-eye reaction time.  We have brought in a tool from half way around the world which will be able us to measure and enhance an athlete's ability for lightening fast reaction time.  Adolescent athletes often have a faster body development than the ability to control it.  For this reason and through extensive research, we have created a detailed skills program to evaluate, develop and further enhance hand-eye and foot-eye coordination.

Objective Analysis

  •  We have a variety of measuring tools to be used to evaluate the response of theis program for every athlete.  Some of the tools include: Surface Electromyography, Infrared Thermography, Near Far Visual Flexibility Timing, Peripheral Vision Testing, Batak Reaction Time Testing, Balance and Coordination Times, Visual Recall Tests, Pulmonary Function Tests, Pulse Oxymetry, Range of Motion and Pitch and Trajectory Recognition Software.
